Buhle Farmers Academy seeks a dynamic and experienced Training Manager to lead our training and development initiatives. The Training Manager will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating training programmes that align with the organisation’s strategic objectives and meet the needs of our farmers at all levels.

We foster an environment of open knowledge-sharing, aimed at building expertise, skills, and service for the collective benefit of our organisation and the agricultural community at large.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement a comprehensive training strategy for smallholder farmers, focusing on practical farming of various crops and livestock to support their entrepreneurial goals.

Design, deliver, and evaluate training programs, utilising workshops, e-learning, and field demonstrations to impart sustainable agricultural practices effectively.

Collaborate with experts to create relevant content that resonates with farmers’ practical realities and aspirations.

Raise funds for the training department to support programme expansion and resource acquisition.

Manage the training budget efficiently, ensuring resources are optimally allocated for on-farm demonstrations and sessions.

Coordinate training sessions, aligning with farming seasons, and oversee logistical arrangements for on-campus and off-campus events.

Lead and mentor trainers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality programmes emphasising practical techniques and sustainability.

Stay updated on agricultural trends to refine training methodologies and enhance learning outcomes.

Utilise evaluation tools to assess programme effectiveness, gathering feedback to improve future interventions.

Promote a culture of continuous learning and development within the organisation.

Qualifications:

Post Tertiary Qualification in Agriculture

Proven experience as a Training Manager or similar role, with a track record of designing and implementing successful training programmes.

Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and training delivery techniques.

Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.

Ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.

Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS) and training evaluation tools.

Possession of a valid driver’s license is an advantage.

Registration as an Assessor and/or Moderator is advantageous.
