The Buhle Farmers’ Academy is honoured to have received the inaugural Isaac Motaung Award, in memory of an inspiring South African. Mr Motaung was a businessman and humanitarian with a keen interest in and thorough understanding of cattle farming.
A former HR director of Pick ‘n Pay, Mr Motaung was also a trustee of the Ackerman Pick ‘n Pay Foundation, which chose Buhle to receive the first Isaac Motaung Award. Livestock Production is one Buhle’s core courses. Mr Motaung’s dedication to farming is the inspiration that we bring to our farmers during this uncertain and complex time.
We draw on his exceptional humanity and generosity as we deepen Buhle’s own ethos and resilience – for this we remain deeply indebted!
“We wish we had known Mr Motaung personally, as he was clearly a man of depth,” said Buhle CEO Nyiko Maluleke, and Executive Director Zamo Shongwe concurs. “We are honoured at the opportunity to honour Mr Motaung’s legacy, and at our next graduation ceremony, we will give an award in his name to one of our Livestock Production students.”
“Buhle thanks the Ackerman Pick ‘n Pay Foundation and the Motaung family.”
